The Observatorio Petrolero Sur (OPSur) presents a new report: “Patagonia: Hydrogen, Land, and Wind,” written by journalist and researcher Hernán Scandizzo.
The research analyzes the progress of green hydrogen megaprojects in Patagonia and the land grabbing they entail. Eleven initiatives are listed in Río Negro, Chubut, Santa Cruz, and Tierra del Fuego, which together exceed two million hectares committed. Fortescue alone accounts for some 700,000 hectares.
The study also addresses the impact on livestock farming, the abandonment of fields, the purchase and leasing of land by foreign capital, and the social tensions that these projects generate in the territories.
